Highlighting the standout design for August, this Home Decorators Collection Cabinetry kitchen design shines with its two-tone design, use of trim for that designer look, and the use of cabinetry to create two separate but cohesive zones.
Two Tone Design
This kitchen design is a standout example of how two tone cabinetry can be a revolution for how I space can feel. The use of Newport Pacific White (NPW) exclusively for wall cabinetry create a sense of space, light and gives the room an airy feel. Using cabinetry color choices to make a space feel bigger and the ceilings feel taller is a great way for us designers to influence how a room feels without our customers needing to knock down walls or move windows around. The base cabinets and island are bold, dramatic and striking in Newport Mythic Blue (NPW). Undoubtedly this balances beautifully against the lighter NPW, and creates a really balanced look and feel.
Creating Zones
This designer has created a small, bespoke-feeling wine bar in an alcove to the right of the island. With Glass Door Cabinetry and built-in wine fridge with storage either side, this feels like a mini-kitchen within a kitchen. Perfect for entertaining guests, or for keeping out of the cook's way while they cook up a storm! Either way, we love the use of space in the design, and the well thought layout is a real winner in our eyes.
Finishing Touches
As we designers know, it's the small things that can make the biggest impact. This designers use of furniture base moulding to create a designer, built-in feel is a great use of holdings and trim to finish a design off. The attention to detail in using the brushed nickel hardware (ref DH45-100) to not only contrast beautifully against the Mythic Blue cabinets, but to tie in with the stainless steel appliances is a great example of designer touches having a big impact. Or take the way the refrigerator has wall cabinets over the top for extra storage, plus skins on either side to ensure the refrigerator has that designer, built-in look that so many customers are looking.
This expertly designed kitchen is not just bold, but also highly functional, with two distinct zones for cooking and entertaining, making it a standout choice for August's Design of the Month.
